Making Sure the Pain Doesn’t Return: mild® Procedure Helps Pinehurst Man Enjoy Retirement

After dealing with pain for some time, Pinehurst, N.C. resident James Matthews said he “had pain in my back for so long that I just learned to live with discomfort.” An article from FirstHealth of the Carolinas details his “lower back pain due to spinal stenosis” with “some bouts of discomfort … bad enough that it also hindered his ability to care for his wife.”
The story highlights how Matthews finally found Dr. Lauren Sylvester, and a procedure he calls his “game changer.”

Although the complication rate for the mild® Procedure is low, as with most surgical procedures, serious adverse events, some of which can be fatal, can occur, including heart attack, cardiac arrest (heart stops beating), stroke, and embolism (blood or fat that migrates to the lungs or heart). Other risks include infection and bleeding, spinal cord and nerve injury that can, in rare instances, cause paralysis. This procedure is not for everyone.
