Source— 13 WTHR Published July 31, 2020

WTHR 13INside Track host Laura Steele interviews the Center for Pain Management’s Dr. Joseph C. Rutledge about spinal stenosis, which he defines as “the narrowing or tightening of the spinal canal.” Spinal stenosis is “most commonly due to degenerative changes in the lumbar spine,” Dr. Rutledge explains.

When asked more about the mild® Procedure, Dr. Rutledge states, “It stands for minimally invasive lumbar decompression. Although that sounds like it explains itself, I’ll go into it a little bit more. So, it’s a safe, minimally invasive procedure using a tool about the size of my pinkie to go in and scrape out some of the redundant soft tissue, the ligament tissue, that grows with age and is part of that degenerative process. The best parts about it – there’s no stitches, no general anesthesia, no implant and no down time.”
