Know Your Back Story: Pain Awareness Month Spotlight on Good Morning Washington

A recent Harris Poll estimated 72.3 million Americans suffer from low back pain. For Pain Awareness Month in September, Good Morning Washington put a spotlight on a minimally invasive procedure that is changing patient’s lives.
Dr. Mark Coleman from National Spine & Pain Centers helped close out Pain Awareness Month and spread awareness of the Know Your Back Story national health awareness campaign, by appearing on WJLA-TV’s Good Morning Washington with hosts Eileen Whelan and Kidd O’Shea.
Dr. Coleman helped educate viewers about the prevalence of chronic lower back pain (CLBP), the symptoms & effects of lumbar spinal stenosis (#LSS), and treatment options available for CLBP patients, like the mild® Procedure.

Although the complication rate for the mild® Procedure is low, as with most surgical procedures, serious adverse events, some of which can be fatal, can occur, including heart attack, cardiac arrest (heart stops beating), stroke, and embolism (blood or fat that migrates to the lungs or heart). Other risks include infection and bleeding, spinal cord and nerve injury that can, in rare instances, cause paralysis. This procedure is not for everyone.
